Daily Devotional: Reading the Bible Daily
Reading the Bible daily is essential for all believers.
“These were more fair-minded than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness, and searched the Scriptures daily to find out whether these things were so.” - Acts 17:11
When I rededicated my life to the Lord on January 4th, 2011, I was lucky that I attended a church that emphasized reading the word of God daily. I believe it’s essential for every Christian to do so.
In Matthew 4:4, it says that we are not to live by bread alone, but by every word of God. And we can’t just get that spiritual nourishment once a week on Sunday. Just as we need to fuel up our car with gasoline when it gets low, we cannot spiritually run on empty, and expect God to use our lives.
In 2 Timothy 4, we are charged as Christians to “Be ready in season and out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching.” That command is an impossibility if we are not in our word daily and filed with the Holy Spirit. In Isaiah 55:11, God says that His word will never return void. We need to read and meditate on it daily.
